Cops seize revolver after jeweller opens fire in air

It is said that Govinda Prabhu had objected issue of building licence by the TMC to open a textile shop and construction of another floor in the jewellery shop. When Suresh Baliga went to Prabhu’s house to question it, Prabhu reportedly abused Baliga. In the melee, Baliga opened fire in the air.

However, Suresh Baliga has filed a counter case and alleged that Prabhu has a criminal background and was involved in verbal dual with his brother Nagendra B Baliga following which he opened fire for self protection.

Bantwal Town Inspector Mohammed Rafiq has seized the revolver for misusing it.
Jewellery stolen

Some unidentified miscreants gained entry into Chamundeshwari kshetra in the premise of the house of Sri Mahaganapathy temple priest at Katipalla and decamped with ornaments worth Rs 7.40 lakh.

According to police, the miscreants gained entry by breaking open the door.
Finger print experts and dog squad were pressed into service.
