JOIN USAll India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) on Monday demanded the State government not to abolish merit quota in private professional colleges and instead increase the quota.
The AIDSO activists who protested in front of Town Hall, termed the government’s move to abolish the merit quota, heinous.
“The Congress government had connived with the capitation fee lobby. There would be no government quota in private colleges in future and the private managements would raise the fee structure astronomically. The students would be forced to appear for Comed-K exams to get seats in private colleges,” alleged the AIDSO State president V N Rajashekhar.
In the guise of ending seat blocking and ensuring transparency in admission, the State is hell bent upon implementing the 2006 Act ( Karnataka Professional Educational Institutions Regulation of Admission and Determination of Fee), while in reality it is a cunning design to legalise exorbitant fees and auctioning of seats, he alleged.
The AIDSO secretariat member Kaushik R called upon students and parents to force the government to abolish the Comed-K exams and ensure that CET alone would be the entrance exam to get admission in private colleges.
