The final year MBA students of Sambhram School of Management welcomed their juniors
recently at Umang, the ‘Fresher’s Day’ celebrations held on campus.

The students, who had planned a slew of cultural programmes, ensured that they had fun while the fresh batch of students too felt comfortable on campus.

The celebrations consisted of solo and group dance performances, song recitals, ice-breaking session with games and a fashion show.

Nikhil, a second-year MBA student, said, “There were three rounds in the fashion show. In the first round, students were dressed in formal wear. They wore
western clothes for the modern round and traditional attire for the cultural round.

Our juniors were very sportive and worked really hard to look their best. They were creative in choosing their look. Though it was supposed to be their day, we all had fun too.”

The students were divided into teams for dance performances and grooved to the
latest Bollywood hits.

Nikhil added, “It was really surprising to know that many could perform cultural dances so well. It was tough to say if they were trained or had practised for this day.”
In the second session, the students got a chance to showcase their talent in the
‘Mr and Ms Fresher’ round. First-year students Pooja Ramesh and Nimal Roy bagged the titles.

Apart from this, the students also had another round called ‘Mr Personality’ in which they were marked on traits like confidence and attitude.

This competition was won by Deep Das.

Though it was a fun-filled day for all, organising the events was not an easy task. Akshitha, a final-year student, said, “The event really put our communication and management skills to test. There was a lot of running around
to do. We had to take many permissions and ensure that
nobody backed out.

But everything was in place. It was a tough task but worth all the effort. When the day
came to an end, we saw that our juniors had really enjoyed themselves.”

The celebrations concluded with a DJ party. The stage was set and looked like a dance floor and the students shook a leg to some high-energy beats.

Akshitha added, “We thought that many wouldn’t participate in the dance round, so we hosted this party. There was no room for the students to be shy and we
ensured that they all let their hair down and had fun.”
