Subramaniam chief of panel to select VC

The State government has appointed Carnatic violinist L Subramaniam as the chairperson of a committee to select a new vice chancellor to Dr Gangubai Hanagal Music and Performing Arts University, Mysore.

While the government can make one appointment to the search panel, one each will have to be done by the governor who is the pro chancellor, and another by the University Grants Commission.

The first vice chancellor of the music university was Hanumanna Naik Dore. He has returned to Kannada University after completing his term.

The search panel headed by litterateur U R Ananthamurthy has submitted its panel of names for the post of vice chancellor of Davangere University. As many as 16 professors were interviewed and a panel of three names has been recommended to the higher education minister. One of the three would be selected for the post. The governor will make a final selection in consultation with the government.
