‘We chose the space as it is near to many software companies located in ITPL and White Field areas,’ said City Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari.
Many software companies have become targets of terrorist groups. The police do not want to take any risks, especially after 23/11 attack in Mumbai. In time of emergencies, the force needs to be deployed on the spot and is supposed to act swiftly. However, if the force is stationed in a far off place, then handling the situation is rendered difficult, the police said.
Mock drill
“The police conducted a mock drill three days ago along with para military force. It took 40 minutes for the team to reach ITPL area from Benson Town. It will be extremely difficult to handle emergency situations if it takes 40 minutes to reach the spot. Hence, the area near the ITPL bus stop has been chosen, explained Bidari.
