Meeting to discuss people's problems held in Sakleshpur

For the first time in the district, the Police department had organised an interaction with the public to discuss the problems faced by them due to wild jumbo menace at the villages on the fringes of Western Ghats.

Superintendent of Police Ravi D Channanavar unveiled a name board that creates awareness on the rights of the residents residing on the fringes of forests, labourers, backward communities and others, on the occasion.

List

The villagers presented a huge list of problems faced by them on day to day basis. It included illegal sale of liquor, roads, power problems, non-supply of food grains in fair price shops, delay in widow pension, absence of doctors in government hospitals, irregular water supply by watermen and others.

The SP assured to forward the list of problems to the respective departments for perusal.
He also appealed to the citizens to inform the department if they came across child labour, harassment by any government servant, delay in distribution of benefits, atrocities on women and innocent public, extortion and looting of forest resources.

Any illegal activities at homestays and resorts in the surrounding areas should be immediately brought to the notice of the department, he stressed.  Dy SP Kumaraswamy, Inspector K T Gururaj and others were present.
