Couples in police net

Two couples, who used to rob valuables from passengers in City buses, have been arrested by the Central Crime Branch. 

Shivakumar, 28, his wife Shanthamma, 35 and Venkatesh, 26 and his wife Shashikala, 24, are the arrested. Police recovered 540 gm of gold chains worth Rs 16.2 lakh from them. The couples used to board heavily crowded buses and distract passengers before making away with valuables like mobile phones, gold chains and wallets. Eight cases have been registered against them in various police stations. 

Prostitution racket busted

Central Crime Branch (CCB) busted a prostitution racket and rescued five girls following a raid on a massage parlour near Ulsoor Lake, recently. 

Five people were arrested and Rs 11,000 in cash, five mobile phones were recovered during the raid. Indrani Benjamin, who had rented the massage parlour, is absconding, police said. Girls were promised jobs in the massage parlour, but later forced into prostitution. A case has been registered at Pulakeshinagar police station.
