It is the end-of-year party season and surely, you have one event lined up after the next. Make sure you look a knock-out diva under the party limelight. Nikitha Satish shows you how.

It is that time of the year when the disco lights blind your eyes, DJs drill your ears, barmen get you knocked-out, and chefs pamper your taste-buds silly. But most importantly, it is that time of the year when a girl can go as dressy with her clothes as she likes and still not hit the “too much” meter! With the holiday season comes plenty of reasons to dress up. With so many formal occasions, you can’t rely on your usual little black dress to do the trick again and again.

Here are a few tips to help you stay stylish this season:

n This party season make a resolution to try different things on. Go through your wardrobe before going to shop. It really helps.

n Whatever print you choose make sure it doesn’t overpower. Carrying bold prints is difficult, unless it is your thing. Let it be subtle. It can still make an impact and help you stand out from the crowd.

n Dresses with length just above the knee suits almost all body types. But skirts and dresses with longer length are flattering and can create the illusion of “looking tall”.

n Ditch your jeans for trendy printed jeggings. Leather leggings are perfect for the night out. It can be teamed with a sheer top and you are ready to rock and roll.

n Bring in the New Year with bling. Choose a sequin mini dress or top. Pair it with neutral accessories and be ready to catch all the attention.

n If you have a shoe fetish, then work your clothes around the footwear. It’s the best way to do justice to those favourite shoes of yours.

n The high waist pencil skirt has been rocking the trend this season. Choose a printed or embellished pencil skirt, as per to your style, and match it with a simple top and accessory.

n A dainty lace dress in white or a dark colour should be part of every diva’s wardrobe. It is elegant. It is classy. Stilettos and statement earrings are all you need to emanate some major girly glam with this look.

n You can dress up in just about anything with a fitted black blazer or stylish sequinned jacket to shine through the night. Wear it over a dress or shirt to finish off the look with a posh finesse.

n Metallics are the smartest sartorial choice to help you shine bright at any party. A blingy clutch is a safe and very trendy way to inject a healthy dose of sparkle to your formal outfit without being too over the top.

Accessories

n Add quirky accessories. From ear cuffs to ankle belts there is a wide range of trinkets for you to experiment with.

n Statement necklaces are a huge trend. Keep your ears bare and just flaunt a beautiful neckpiece.

n Your jewellery doesn’t have to exactly match. You can mix and match your accessories.
n Wear a classy watch in metal or rose gold. It adds an elegant charm to your look and makes a statement instantaneously.

Footwear

n Most women take care so much about their whole attire, jewellery, and make up. But they often bring the whole look down by matching it with the wrong type of footwear. Pay attention to what you are wearing your footwear with.

n Wedges are for you if you are going to be on your feet for a long time. They are comfortable and give you that elegant posture.

n For that ultra stylish look, go for an open toe stiletto. Make sure it is not too over the top. It should complement the attire and not overpower it.

n It is winter and time to take out those boots. Team it with a short dress or skirt. You could even wear over your leggings.

Make up

n Focus your make up on your eyes. Use a good waterproof mascara and do the smokey eyes.

n Do your eyes vintage style. Cat-eye eyeliner adds the old vintage charm to your look.
n Go for the ultra-glam look. Add a pop of colour. Try on a red or bright pink lipstick.
n Keep the rest of the make up nude. The idea is to look a natural barbie doll.

Hair

n Try a messy French-braid. Curl the top layers to add some bounce and texture.

n Go poker straight for a strong look. It adds an edge to your elegant-and-confident-woman look. It also rather easy to maintain.

n If you hate loose strands around your face, go for an elegant low-bun, with a side-crop partition.

n Add loose beach waves for that romantic look. Add a thin blingy hairband to go with this get-up.
