JOIN USLeader of BJP’s legislature party in Delhi Assembly, Harsh Vardhan, on Saturday said the new Delhi government needs to deliver fast on the promises made by the AAP during the election campaign.
Wishing Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on taking oath, he said: “We want to see when and how early he will fulfil the promises.”
Harsh Vardhan, who attended the oath-taking ceremony of Kejriwal, referred to the chief minister’s somewhat changed tone during his speech at Ramlila Maidan in which he said he and his team did not have answers for all the problems in Delhi.
“Where is Kejriwal’s magic that he promised to use to solve people’s problems within days of taking oath?” he asked, indicating that the new chief minister was already making attempts to lower public expectation from him in terms of delivery on promises.
Harsh Vardhan slammed the AAP and said: “They started their politics from the high moral pedestal and vowed not to join hands with corrupt Congress, later they joined hands with the Congress which was rejected by the people.”
By joining hands with the Congress, the AAP has insulted the people who voted the Congress out, said Harsh Vardhan, adding that the AAP needs “introspection”.
He said: “The BJP will play the role of an honest opposition and watch how fast Kejriwal fulfils his promises.”
He claimed Kejriwal said during the election campaign that he knew the magic to find solutions to various problems.
“I hope the magic would persist. Why is he (now) saying that magic does not exist?” Harsh Vardhan wondered.
Kejriwal, during his speech at Ramlila Maidan, praised Harsh Vardhan but said he could not say the same for his party. Vardhan thanked Kejriwal and said if he tried to understand his party’s functioning and principles he would realise that it has worked tirelessly for the nation.
