Two jobless youth commit suicide

Two men ended their lives in separate incidents in the City on Saturday evening. A 25-year-old youth, Dileep, was found hanging at his house in Kalyan Nagar on Saturday evening. The incident came to light when his roommate returned home from work.

Dileep, according to police, had recently quit his job as an executive with a private firm. His roommate said that Dileep had the name of a girl engraved on his hand. Police suspect that a failed love affair could have driven Dileep to suicide. Peenya police have registered a case.

In the other incident, Balaraj (25) hanged self at his house in Garepalya, Madiwala. He was a painter for vehicles but had been jobless for the last few months, police said.

Balaraj had taken to alcohol and on Saturday evening he had gone out with his friends. After returning, he locked himself in a room and did not turn up for dinner.

The incident came to light when his grandmother called him. Madiwala police have registered a case. The cause for his extreme step is yet to be ascertained.

Cab driver robbed

A cab driver was assaulted and robbed of valuables, including his car, on Laggere bridge in the early hours of Sunday.

Anil Kumar, 25, works as a driver for a hotelier in the City and the incident occurred when he was returning home after dropping relatives of his employer at Mahalakshmi Layout.

According to a complaint lodged by Kumar, four men intercepted his car on Laggere bridge around 3 am, threatened him at knife-point and robbed him of his eight-gram gold chain and Rs 17,000 in cash.

One of them took over the wheels and drove away with the vehicle after throwing Kumar out near Gangondanahalli. Rajagopalnagar police have registered a case of robbery.
