'Language is the symbol of prosperity'

He was speaking after inaugurating the Rajyotsava celebrations organised at Enigadale Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Chikkaballapur district on Wednesday.

Prof Kodirangappa said, students should try to read, write and practice a lot in languages and try to have a grip over them. They should try to master over the languages right from their younger days.

They should study each and every language effectively. At the same time, they should have immense pride and respect for Kannada too, he expressed.
The development of the State largely depended upon the economic, social and educational development of the people. Only then can the language grow and flourish.
There was also a genuine need for the development of the people residing in the rural and the border areas, Prof Kodirangappa said.

Speaking on the occasion,  Honorary President of the Kolar district unit of the Kannada Rakshana Vedike Madhurappa said, though our elders have stated that we should love and promote our language, they never advised us to hate other languages. One should respect every language, but love Kannada language, he added.

Writing helps

Speaking at the programme, literatteur and Kannada lecturer Vasudeva Nadig said, language could develop in several ways. By writing down the experiences, day-to-day incidents, feelings and emotions, their lifestyle and the daily struggle, one could also contribute for the development of the language. 

The students should learn to jot down their day-to-day experiences and incidents. Writing not only enriches them, but also enriches the language too. Writing also creates a sense of social responsibility among the students, he expressed.
The students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya presented cultural programmes to mark the Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations, on the occasion.

College Principal Vijayakumari, Suhas Tanthri of Prashanthi Vidya Samsthe of Chelur, lecturer Shrinivas Rao, Shrihari and several others were present on the occasion.
Senior lecturer Altaf Pasha earlier, welcomed and compered the programme. Jayashree proposed a vote of thanks.
