Kiran Bedi comes out in support of Modi

Last Updated 10 January 2014, 20:40 IST

Former IPS officer Kiran Bedi, who has been coy of being perceived as soft towards the right wing party during the Anna Hazare led anti-corruption movement, has openly endorsed BJP’s PM nominee Narendra Modi.

"For me it's India First! stable, well governed, administered, accountable and inclusive. As an independent voter, my vote is for NaMo (sic)," tweeted Bedi late on Thursday night.  "Any one of us who wants a scam free country cannot vote back Congress! India needs stability and experienced hands to provide for all!(sic)," was  Bedi’s another post.

Her favourable tweets though were guarded, it has led to a call from the BJP that she should be inducted into the party. "We should invite Kiran Bedi & Gen (VK) Singh to join BJP," Subramaniam Swamy responed through his own post on Friday.

Given sharp reactions to her latest views, the first woman IPS officer attempted a balancing act by saying that her comment was in her personal capacity.
