Security beefed up for festivities

The City police have made massive security arrangements to ensure peaceful celebrations of Eid Milad, Makara Sankranti and a car festival of a church in Viveknagar. 

On Tuesday, there will be mass prayers as a part of the Id celebrations at YMCA grounds, Shivajinagar Chota Maidan, Sultanji Gunte and Khuddus Saab Idgah on Millers Road and a car festival at Infant Jesus Church at Viveknagar . 

As many as 12 deputy commissioners of police would supervise the security arrangements. A total of 30 ACPs, 150 police inspectors, 10,800 civil police staff, 27 platoons of Karnataka State Reserve Police, 14 platoons of City Armed Reserve and around 500 home guards would be pressed into service, said the City Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar.
