Conserve natural resources for future generation: BSY

Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa has said that owing to greedy nature of a few politicians, the natural resources of the country is looted. There was a need to conserve resources for the future generation.

Speaking at the 841st Sri Guru Siddarameshwara Jayanthi celebrations, at Kadur on Tuesday, he said a few politicians have looted the resources. “I had banned the export of iron ore during my tenure, to conserve the resource for future generation. Natural resources  should be declared as national asset. It should not become asset of a few individuals. There is a need for judicious use of natural resources available in the country for the nation to progress.”

Siddarama had given priority to hard work. “We need to follow the teachings of Siddarameshwara,” Yeddyurappa said. “By supplying rice at Re 1 per kg, the government is moving the people away from hard work. The farmers should get good price for the produce, so that they can lead a dignified life,” the former CM said.

MLA C T Ravi said that humanbeings can not live without a working class. “If all go behind IT and BT, who will grow and supply food to us. There is a need to provide security to the working class.”

Tumkur MP G S Basavaraju said “Paramashivaiah report on supplying water to plateau region is biting the dust. The successive governments have failed to work towards the welfare of the farmers. All should join hands with each other to implement irrigation projects in Kadur.”
