The Zilla Panchayat members who made headlines at the State-level by passing resolutions against the proposal, did not open their mouth in any of the meetings later.
The leaders of ‘Janadani’ who organised the movement against handing over the Kaval to the mutt, have now failed to support the people to continue the struggle. The people’s representatives who used to raise the issue now and then, have got many other issues to discuss now.

Dayanand Swamiji created some debates on the issue for some time. But people of the district themselves had suspicions regarding the aim of the seer who reportedly did not have any experience or knowledge in the field.
After some dramatic developments in Birur during the visit of Animal Husbandry Minister Revu Nayak Belamagi, the seer silently escaped from the scene. The minister who conducted review meeting with the officials, transferred the money sanctioned for the development of Amrut Mahal Kaval to the Hallikar Development Centre in Tumkur district.
Though Janadani warned against this through media statements, no elected representative questioned the same.

Though there is a High Court ruling that the encroachments of Amrut Mahal Kaval land should be vacated, the elected representatives of the district have blocked the hands of the officials, it is alleged.
“Movement need to be launched if the encroachments of Kavals are evicted,” MLC Y S V Datta had warned.

The Dalits of Kadur taluk now have raised the question of social justice saying that the governments have allowed the upper caste people to encroach the Kavals and they should also be given the opportunity.

Illegal sand mining is rampant in Chowlahiriyur kaval. The developments in the past one year show that the people’s representatives have totally forgotten the Amrut Mahal Kavals.
