Muthuvel threw the discus to a distance of 36.00 metres to bag the bronze in the men’s F-44 class at the Sree Kanteerava stadium. “I never expected a medal but my hard work paid off,” said the 29-year-old Muthuvel. Muthuvel’s left leg had been amputated below the knee at the age of five.

The Tamil Nadu lad had also won the discus gold in the UK athletic meet for disabled in August this year.  However, the day belongs to Drazenko Mitrovic of Serbia, who broke the World record in the wheelchair discus throw for F-54 class.
Mitrovic found a distance of 31.19 to erase the previous distance of 31.08 set by Fan Liang of China last year in Beijing.

Meanwhile, flaws in the organisational front continued for the third successive day of the games. The schedule for many disciplines are yet to be prepared with swimming, table tennis, sitting volleyball, archery and wheelchair fencingslated to begin from Friday.
