Last Updated 21 January 2014, 21:47 IST

Some schools continue to flout the Directorate of Education’s directions by selling nursery admission forms with the prospectus charging Rs 100 to Rs 500 on the first day on Tuesday.

Though as per the DoE rules a form under the general category must be sold at Rs 25 only.

A Kaushambi resident bought an application form of Ryan International School in Mayur Vihar Phase-III for Rs 100. “When I asked for an admission form without the prospectus, I was told to step aside the queue,” said Rohini Kumar.

On why the school is not giving forms for Rs 25, a staff of Ryan International School said, “The application form is available with the prospectus only.”

Thomas International School in Paschim Vihar is only taking online forms, but it is selling prospectus for Rs 500. The authorities could not be reached for comments.
Parents were seen cribbing over the uneven timings of distribution of forms. “I went to five schools today. Two schools closed the sale of prospectus at 11 am. Rest of them shut the counter at noon,” said Sunita Rajan, a south Delhi resident.

According to the guidelines the sale of forms should be open form 9 am to 1 pm.
The authorities of Ahlcon Public School in Mayur Vihar Phase-I said the sale of forms closed at 12 noon on Tuesday. “It will be closed at noon daily,” a staff said.

Rain also affected the first day of admissions. “I couldn’t reach schools at 9 am due to bad weather or else I would have covered more schools,” Rajan said.

Delhi Schools’ Association secretary Vinay Kumar Upadhyay said only 42 per cent offline forms were sold on the first day compared to 65 per cent last year.

Delhi Public School in R K Puram sold 100 forms while the sale of applications stood at 450 at Bal Bharati School on Pusa Road. M M Public School in Pitampura sold 770 admission forms.

The online registration of forms picked up after noon. Delhi Public School on Mathura Road is taking only online applications. For Economically Weaker Section it has offline form also that can be availed from a counter at the school between 9 am and 12 noon, a staff said.
