A day to remember for long

Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul International School celebrated its third Patotsava and the eight annual day at the school  premises recently.

Amar Kumar Pandey, Inspector General of Police, central range was the chief guest. Yashwanth Kumar, commissioner,  Municipal Corporation, Ramanagara district;  Krishnacharan Dasaji Swamiji; Gyanjivandasji Swamiji; and school principal  Rajesh Pillai presided over the function. The programme began with the welcoming of guests by the school band.

Rajesh Pillai, the school principal, also welcomed the gathering. This was followed by the inaugural dance. Rajesh Pillai presented the annual report too.

It was followed by the march past led by school caption R Mahek. The four houses — Rigveda, Atharvaveda, Yajurveda and Samveda with their captains — also took part in it.

The march was followed by various games and sports like drill by the kindergarten students, 10-metre-race, ‘Blast Shooter’, ‘Burst My Tail’, head ball, 4 x 50 metre relay, ‘How’s That?’ ‘Safe With Balloon’, three-legged-football, ‘Hopping Train’ etc.

Martial arts student showcased their talents under the guidance of their coach Ashok, which combined self-defence combat, physical fitness and spiritual development. Few games like ‘tug of war’ and balancing cone were conducted for the parents also.

A blood donation camp was also organised. There was overwhelming response from the parent and teachers.Prizes were distributed by the dignitaries to the winners of various sports and game. Samaveda house emerged as the champion house for 2013-14 academic year.

The students with the hard work of the teachers and under the guidance of Satsang Priyadasaji Swamiji and the principal put up an excellent show.

A photo exhibition was organised to showcase various events that occurred during the year. Thomas Francis, teacher in English, proposed a vote of thanks.
