Sentence in TP murder case on January 28

A special additional sessions court in Eranhipalam, Kozhikode, will pronounce the quantum of sentence to 12 men convicted in the T P Chandrasekharan murder case on January 28. Prosecution and defence arguments on the sentence concluded at the special court on Thursday.

According to reports, the prosecution argued that the murder was among the “rarest of rare” cases and sought death sentence to seven assailants who hacked the Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) leader to death near Onchiyam in Kozhikode and three local CPM leaders found guilty of being a part of the conspiracy.

The court on Wednesday held 12 of the 36 accused in the case guilty. It acquitted 24 people, including the CPM’s Kozhikode district secretariat member P Mohanan. M C Anoop, Manoj Kumar aka Kirmani Manoj, N K Sunil Kumar aka Kodi Suni, T K Rajeesh, K K Mohammed Shafi, S Sijith and K Shinoj were the seven people pronounced guilty on Wednesday.
