BBMP puts garbage plan in place for R-Day parade

 The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has made advance preparations to avoid garbage menace and to provide sanitation and refreshments on the Republic Day celebrations at the Sam Manekshaw Parade Grounds.

According to senior Palike officers, the BBMP has deployed a good number of pourakarmikas (sanitation workers) with enough trolleys and vehicles to transport waste from the Parade Grounds and the main areas of the City like MG Road, Ambedkar Road, Raj Bhavan Road, Infantry Road, Cubbon Road, Kamaraj Road, St Marks Road, Kasturba Road, Residency Road, Church Street, Lavelle Road, Commercial Street, Shivajinagar, Ulsoor and surrounding areas.

To ensure supply clean water to people visiting the Parade Ground, the BBMP has coordinated with the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB). The two civic agencies have also set up 20 mobile toilets at the venue. A medical team and tents having all medical facilities have also been set up in case of medical emergencies.

The BBMP has made arrangements for supply of snacks and meals for those participating in the cultural programmes. Special food and water arrangements have been made for the schoolchildren participating in the event, said the BBMP sources.
