'Home Guards render invaluable services'

He was speaking after inaugurating the district-level Home Guards Sports Meet, organised in Chikballapur on Friday.

The SP said, sports meet helped in providing physical and mental health and stamina for the Home Guards. Hence, such sports events should be held every now and then. Such events also helped in increasing the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie among the Home Guards, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Regional Transport Officer Abdul Ahmad Khan said, the services of the Home Guards was of tremendous importance to the society.
They came into direct contact with the common man. The society must show respect and honour to the Home Guards, for the services they were rendering and that too without any remuneration, Abdul Ahmad Khan  said.

Petty crimes

Information Officer C M Ranga Reddy said, it was very unfortunate to note that everyday the number of petty crimes were increasing in the society. The Home Guards were extending their services, along with the police to control such offences. The services of the Home Guards was extremely laudable and commendable, he added.


Commandant of the District Home Guards R Venkatesh said, the district Home Guards had received the ‘Best Home Guards’ award, for having rendered excellent services during the recently held Lok Sabha elections.

It was the pride of Chikballapur district, he said and added, Chikballapur district also had the pride of being the second best Home Guards unit in the State.
National sports champion Manchanabale Shrinivas received the baton from the district Superintendent of Police. Earlier, Home Guard Ramnath welcomed the guests.
