A BMRCL contract worker was found dead behind Mantri Square in Malleswaram on Saturday night.

The victim was identified as Venkatesh, 45, a resident of Peenya Dasarahalli. He had gone missing on Wednesday evening, police said.

The workers went near a sump at the construction site on Saturday at 6.30 pm and found Venkatesh’s body floating. They alerted the police who rushed to the spot, retrieved the body and sent it to Victoria Hospital for post- mortem.

There were injury marks on Venkatesh’s body and police suspect that someone might have murdered him and dumped the body in the sump. Venkatesh had told his family members that he had quarrelled with some security guards of BMRCL last week over a petty issue.

It is not known if the guards were involved in the murder, police said.
