<p> <br /><br />A bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan said: “The government must stop bumper lottery, which is holding draw more than once in a week.’’ According to Section 4 of the Lotteries (Regulation) Act, a Central law application in the country, no lottery organiser can arrange more than one draw in a week. <br /><br />Bibhash Karmakar, a resident of South 24-Parganas, West Bengal, in his petition has sought judicial direction to ban online lottery in the country as it directly affects the poor as well as students.</p>
