A female industrialist from Bangalore, who faces criminal charges such as cheque bouncing, delivered the 5th annual convocation at the Karnataka State Women’s University (KSWU) here on Monday, raising many an eyebrow.
An honorary doctorate was also conferred on her.
But Villoo Morawala-Patel, chairman and managing director of Avesthagen — a Bangalore-based biotechnology company — brushed aside the allegations against her, saying that she did not bother about them.
Critics said the university should have verified her credentials before she was invited to deliver the convocation address and the honorary doctorate was conferred on her.
Patel also said she said that she was not embarrassed even a bit in accepting the honorary doctorate conferred on her.
