In a humanitarian move to aid the poor patients, a team of young doctors from the Government Medical College hospital here, have set up a group called "Cause".

"All the doctors of Anesthesia Department at GMC hospital here have formed a group and named it as 'Cause' to help poor patients at the hospital," Rohit Lahori, a doctor from the Department of Anesthesia said today.

They have decided to contribute together for "Cause" group to help the poor patients admitted in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the GMC hospital, he said.

This all started with a cause to help a 11-year-old boy Vicky of Udhampur district here.
The boy was admitted in ICU of GMC hospital in a critical condition two months ago with head injury in a road accident case, Lahori said.

He was on ventilator and it was impossible for Vicky's parents to bear the treatment in spite of all the help from hospital administration.

The  doctors of Department of Anesthesia and ICU GMC came forward and took it as a personal responsibility in arranging the medicine and other necessities of the patient, he said.

A cheque of Rs 15,000 donated by Bhagwan Gopinath Ashram in Jammu was given to the patient's family.

After discharge, the patient was also provided with the medicines from hospital, for which the contribution was done by the doctors of Department of Anesthesia.
