A bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan directed investigating agency to file its reply to the plea of Srinivas Talluri, who had been in jail since January 24.

Advocate Mukul Rohtagi appearing for Talluri said that there was no chance of tampering with the evidence as chargesheet in the case was filed before the special court in Hyderabad since April 7, 2009. No grave prejudice would occur to the case if he was released on bail and moreover, there was no material evidence against him to implicate him in the case, he said in the petition.

The investigating agency had also not filed any additional document in the last 7 months, he said. There was no progress in the trial of the case, Rohtagi said seeking order for release of Talluri on bail. He has challenged the order of the Andhra Pradesh High Court that rejected his bail plea on October 28, 2009. Price Waterhouse auditor Talluri was arrested in Satyam Computer Services Ltd fraud case for allegedly conniving with its founder B Ramalinga Raju and other aides.  Talluri, while denying any criminal wrongdoing in its appeal, has said his role was minimal.
