City to host cycling marathon

Vodafone Cycling Marathon will be held in the City on February 9, to promote cycling culture and help people lead a healthy lifestyle. It will be flagged off from Kasturba Road.

The marathon is open to all age groups and is expected to witness around 10,000 cyclists, including 150 elite licensed cyclists from the Cycling Federation of India.The marathon will also be acknowledged in the National and International Calendar of cycling events.

The cycling will be held under four categories: Champion ride - 60 km; Passion ride - 40 km; Green ride - 20 km, and Fun ride - 10 km. Winners will be awarded certificates and cash prizes.

The Bangalore City traffic police is also supporting the event to help encourage use of cycles among the public.

A carnival has also been arranged at the Kanteerava Indoor Stadium, which would include various shows.
