Umashree a puppet in CM's hands: CPK

Litterateur C P Krishnakumar on Tuesday launched a diatribe against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his cabinet colleague Kannada and Culture Minister Umashree.

Without taking their names, while participating in the inauguration of Inchara Samskrithika Prathishtan at The Institution of Engineers India (IEI), Mysore chapter, Krishnakumar alleged, “The Kannada and Culture Minister is a puppet at the hands of the chief minister.

The department has failed to perform.”

Continuing, CPK as he is popularly known as among litterateurs, said, “The respective minister is an actor by profession who is busy portraying herself as a decorative doll (puppet). The CM is pulling the strings.”

The government should not interefere in the cultural matters as it could have an adverse impact. It has been almost a year since the nominations have been made to academies and authorities. The CM who kindled a ray of hope at the initial stage has become a target of criticism, he added.

Though madhurya (good) is the symbol of culture, it is now replaced by madhu (meaning madhya in Kannada and liquor in English). It is equally tragic that the government was keen on promoting liquor, which showed that it had scant concern towards art, culture and tradition.
