Hot-coloured pants!

Right attitude

Thought only T-shirts and kurtas were available in bright colours? Well, you are mistaken as a pair of coloured pants is the in-thing now! Red, yellow, green, maroon, you name it and it’s there.

Available in all stores, branded or non-branded, one can choose from a variety of them without spending much. They suit men and women and for those who have a colourful streak to them, they are just the ideal option. A few students from St Joseph’s Evening College interacted with Metrolife and spoke about how this attire has caught their fancy. They not only spoke about how it has become highly popular on campus, but also gave tips on how to strike the right look with it.

Purple is one of the prettiest colours and that’s the reason she loves to sport purple pants, says Madhushri, a student of journalism. “It’s quite a trend as it catches people’s attention and they get attracted to it,” she notes. Ask her where she shops these from and she names a host of places. “Be it Shivajinagar, Commercial Street or Tibetan Plaza, you can find them anywhere in Bangalore,” she adds. Keerthika, a first-year student of BBM, loves donning these as they make her feel unique. “They are colourful and make me feel the same. I love being colourful,” she shares.

Though many guys may not fancy wearing coloured pants, the male students, who happily struck a pose in them, feel otherwise. Christopher, a student of journalism who works with an NGO, wore red pants with panache while Vincent and Suhail chose to sport blue and light yellow pants respectively. “The entire retro theme of the 70s and 80s is back thanks to these pants,” says Christopher. “But fashion is like that. It keeps going and coming,” he adds.

According to Suhail, black and blue jeans are plain monotonous. “It’s high time we move on to different colours and stand out in the crowd,” he suggests. As far as Vincent is concerned, anything could be in trend and he would wear it. “I’m just following the trend. If people start sporting boxers tomorrow, I wouldn’t mind wearing them as well,” he smiles.

These students feel that one needs to carry these pants off with the right attitude.
“Wear a cool attitude,” advises Suhail while Christopher has a tip for guys. “Team them up with flashy accessories like a yellow-coloured watch,” he suggests.
Leading designer Paresh Lamba agrees with the male students and feels that coloured pants are totally in trend this season, even for men.

“Men need colour in their wardrobe too. A colour doesn’t necessarily showcase one’s sexual orientation,” he informs. “So it’s a great trend especially with the summer coming as colours enhance one’s look,” he adds. The hottest colours, according to him, are red, orange and pink. “Even the subtle colours like yellow, mint green and purple are a good option,” he advises.

He has a few tips for all those who like to sport coloured pants. “Try not to wear coloured pants made of shiny material as you will end up looking too blingy. A fabric like linen or cotton is ideal for these pants. Also if you are wearing a subtle coloured pant, go for a dark shirt and vice versa,” he says. “White is ideal in this regard as it goes with every colour and looks great during summer as well,” he sums up.
