Sanjay Dutt seeks another month's parole extension

Last Updated 09 February 2014, 18:54 IST

Serving a sentence for possessing prohibited firearms during 1993 riots, Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt on a month's furlough from Pune's Yerwada Jail, has moved an application for an extension of one more month on grounds of his wife, Manyata’s illness.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that while police in principle have agreed to extend the furlough period, the decision will be announced only after studying the medical report submitted to them by the actor.

Manyata, who recently underwent a surgery for the removal of a tumour from her lungs, has been discharged from the hospital. The actor, who was already out on a furlough, was granted an extension on January 19 after his application citing his wife Manyata’s multiple ailments in heart and liver.

Manyata was admitted to Global Hospital in Parel in South-central Mumbai in early January for treatment.

The actor had come out on a furlough in October last year as he was reportedly suffering from clotted veins in his legs. Thereafter, he was granted an extension on his leave for another two weeks.
