Age has not deterred him from going on. Born in Holenarasipura, educated in Mysore, Magadi and Bangalore, this BSc BE (civil) engineer began his career as an assistant engineer in Bhopal.

Three years later, he joined the Indian Railways as assistant lecturer. He served for 25 years and retired as a member secretary in the Indian Railways Commission. He spoke to Deccan Herald at the sidelines of the Nage Kootagala Sammelana.

Satyanarayana recalls how he came to start the laughter club in the City. “On a visit to Mumbai years ago, I witnessed a few senior citizens jump and laugh in a park. It was a laughter club. I decided to launch a similar club in the City” he added.

Thus, was launched the first laughter club in Bangalore in 1998. There were 10 people to begin with. Soon, there were invitations from various areas of the City to start similar clubs in their localities, recalls the octogenarian.
