BJP top brass to visit State

Last Updated 15 February 2014, 21:06 IST

Several BJP central leaders, including party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, party national president Rajnath Singh, will visit the State during the next two weeks for poll-related conventions.

Modi will address conventions at Davangere and Mangalore on February 18 and then again will visit the State on February 28 to address rallies in Gulbarga and Hubli.

Rajnath Singh will visit Shimoga and Chikkaballapur and address rallies on February 26. The same day, senior leader Yeshwanth Sinha will be in Bangalore for a discussion on the economy and the UPA government.

He will interact with academicians and party leaders. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivaraj Singh Chouhan will address the party’s backward classes’ convention in Tumkur on February 23.

BJP sources said the conventions are part of an exercise to gear up the party machinery ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

The party had performed badly in the Assembly polls in most of the districts where the rallies are being held. The party feels the rallies will help in reviving its poll prospects for the Lok Sabha elections.
