Man under police protection shot dead

A 42-year-old person, who was a complainant in his brother's murder case and having police protection, was today shot dead by three unidentified assailants in the district, police said.

Gulab Singh of Dhoosri village under Shikarpur police station was shot dead while on his way back to his village from Shikarpur town under police protection, Senior Superintendent of Police Umesh Singh said.

The escorting cop was injured and hospitalised, he said.The deceased was a complainant in murder of his brother Kataar and his wife Sunita a year ago, the SSP said, adding one Balram gang was named in the matter and in view of threats to the deceased's life by the accused, police protection was provided to him.

Singh, while on his way back to village with Policeman Jeevan Das, was killed on the spot when three assailants on motorbike attacked him, he said.
