A 24-year-old supervisor-cum-writer of a brick factory was chased and bludgeoned to death in full public glare by two workers on the factory premises on Monday morning. The victim has been identified as Vengaiah, a resident of Bagalur and native of Nellore in Andhra Pradesh.

According to police, Vengaiah used to admonish workers who reported late for duty.  On Monday, two employees whose names are yet to be disclosed came late to work because of which Vengaiah took them to task.

Threats

The two picked a quarrel and threatened him (Vengaiah) with dire consequences if the matter was brought to the notice of the management.

“However, Vengaiah retorted that he would inform the factory owner about the incident and recommend action. At this, the two grew furious, chased Vengaiah and pushed him to ground. They bludgeoned him to death with brick pieces and fled the spot,” Murali, an eyewitness, told Deccan Herald.

The workers at the factory noticed Vengaiah in a pool of blood and screaming for help. They rushed him to a nearby private hospital where he succumbed to injuries, Murali added. “We have questioned a few workers and gathered definite clues about the assailants. They would be arrested soon,” a police inspector said.
