Bus mows down student, set on fire

Residents of Nidavanda village near Nelamangala went on the rampage and set a private bus on fire after the bus mowed down a school student killing her on the spot. Dobbespet police brought situation under control by deploying additional force.

R Bhumika, 14, a resident of Tattekere village, was cycling back from Madakari High School, a kilometre away from Nidavanda, at 4 pm.

A speeding private bus driver lost control over the vehicle and rammed her bicycle. The girl was tossed in the air and crushed under the front wheel of the  bus.

The bus driver drove the bus one kilometre from the accident spot before fleeing. A large number of local residents who gathered at the accident spot set the bus on ire after passengers got down. The bus was charred before the police and fire department staff could arrive, police said.
