Arrests were made after a special vigilance court issued warrant against the duo early in the morning. While Koda was arrested from his house at Chaibasa in West Singhbhum district at around 11 am, Kamlesh Singh was arrested in the evening from Hussainabad in Palamau district. Hours after his arrest, Koda was produced before the Special Vigilance Court of Binoy Kant Khan and the court, in turn, sent him to 14 days judicial custody.

Earlier in the day, State Vigilance Director General (DG) Neyaz Ahmed informed media persons here that Madhu Koda has been arrested and that he was being brought to Ranchi for production before special vigilance court.
“Madhu Koda has been arrested in connection with a case relating to the disproportionate assets (DA). Soon after the issuance of arrest warrant from special court of vigilance, we forwarded it to Chaibasa Superintendent of Police. The police, in turn, arrested Koda. The court had also issued arrest warrant against Kamlesh Singh (an ex-Jharkhand minister),” said Ahmed.

Presently an MP from Chaibasa, Koda is facing investigations from the vigilance department, Income Tax (IT) department and Enforcement Directorate (ED).
He evaded his appearance before the ED and Vigilance department citing his engagement in the elections campaign for his party Jharkhand Navnirman Morcha
