Once buried in a corner of your wardrobe and let out to see the light of the day when you hit the gym or fitness classes, they are now out in the open. And how! No more tagged as a clothing suited for only sweating it out, the gym pants’ fashionable avatars would make you look no less than a femme fatale. Pervading the fashion scene with their casual and zesty appeal, yoga pants seem to have got a fresh boost of life with an overwhelming demand amongst the hip-looking fashionistas in town. Metrolife speaks to fashion designers to learn what these yoga pants work best with.

From college students to travellers, everybody looks out for this fashion wear for its comfort value. Not only black, yoga pants are available in print, detailed and shimmery varieties making them look dapper than ever.

Manali Jagtap, a fashion designer, tells us, “Though these cannot be substituted for formals, but yes, they are practical and versatile enough to be worn for a
semi-formal look if paired appropriately with a good formal top.”

How relieving it would be to travel to office in yoga pants! Does it get more comfortable than that? She adds, “Wear them with kurtas and nice gladiators, bright tees with zipper or jackets. These can be worn for classes or work year-round, and for a street-style, team them with heels, flats, or sandals.”

Fashion designer Amy Bilimoria believes that yoga pants resonate the “funky, cool attitude adopted by many a teenager. Perhaps that has caused this current fad. For many it's the comfort of movement that they offer that makes these pants
very popular.”

How do they work best? Amy says, “These are best teamed with crop tops worn over fitted stringy inners to create a fun yet stylish look.”

For sporting these dingy, sweatpants that are more comfortable and socially acceptable to be worn in public than pyjamas or lowers, Nidhi Sharma, another fashionista says, “These stylish pants are a must- have to flaunt your curves this season. Simply pair it up with a long tee and boots in winters. Surely a comfortable casual wear but not well-suited for formal wear as they are directly
associated with a lazy way of dressing.”
