Bid to assault student

A man allegedly attempted to sexually assault an 11-year-old girl on the premises of the government school at Kasavanahalli in HSR Layout police limits on Saturday.

The class three student was standing inside the school compound, when the suspect dragged her by her hand and tried to sexually assault her. When the headmistress raised alarm, the miscreant fled the spot. 

The headmistress told the police that she had not seen the person earlier near the school. The police said an attempt-to-rape case has been booked and search is on for the miscreant.

Man found dead A private firm employee allegedly committed suicide by hanging at a lodge in Byatarayanpura police limits on Thursday. 

Narayanan, 28, of Malur in Ooty, booked a room at Venkatadri lodge near the satellite bus stop on Mysore Road on February 18. The room boys approached him on Thursday afternoon to ascertain if he wanted lunch, but he replied in the negative.  The boys knocked the door at night again, but there was no response. They broke open the door and found him hanging. They identified the man based on his voter’s identity card.
