Summer is round the corner. It’s time to pull out those bright happy colours out of the wardrobe and mix and match cottons and linens.

Summer fashion is big among youngsters as well as professionals and it is that time of the year when comfort takes over style. While some like to stick to simple cottons in light colours, many others feel that a lot can be done with cottons and bight colours too.

Arpit, a student, says that he likes to wear cotton trousers, three-fourth pants and bright shorts as he can go on with his daily activities and yet look stylish.
“I am a sportsman and I put some thought into what I am wearing in the summer as I have to be on the field for a few hours everyday.

I avoid wearing dark colours and stick to cotton clothes as much as possible. Also, summer is the best time to show off your bright clothes and cotton T-shirts. I have
a great collection of bright cotton T-shirts, I pair them with cotton trousers and I am good to go,” he quips.

Bright floral prints are big this season and it is quite common to spot pretty cotton frocks and skirts in floral prints this year.

Preeti, a shopkeeper at the Tibetan Plaza, says that ‘palazzo’ and balloon pants are back. “It is  popular and available in light cotton as well as chiffon. Many students pick them up. The bright colours and affordable prices make them an attractive option,” she says.

“Chiffon blouses are also very popular this season. They are available in floral and other prints like polka dots and solid colours. They can be tucked in and worn with ‘palazzo’ pants or with cotton trousers and look quite stylish. Youngsters today opt for bright colours in the summer and we cater to their needs by giving them that option,” she says.

Young professionals say that cotton kurta and salwar are their best friends in the summer. Available in different colours, cuts, designs and styles, the short kurtis and kurtas can be teamed up with accessories and shoes. “Since I have to travel a lot, I prefer wearing cotton kurtas as they are extremely comfortable.

There are so many brands to choose from and all of them have an envious range. I like to wear them with stylish patiala pants and cotton churidars. I avoid wearing heavily embellished clothes and try to buy clothes according to the flavour of the season,” says Sithara, a professional.

Shorts never go out of fashion and they are doing the rounds yet again. Available in different colours and lengths, shorts can be paired with funky accessories, tops and T-shirts. Faisal, a student, says that he tries to team shorts with different kinds of footwear to bring out the look.

“I love wearing shorts in the summer. Earlier, they were available only in a few colours, but now there is a wide variety of colours to choose from. When worn witha bright round neck T-shirts, they look very trendy,” he sums up.
