The police identified Vrinda, Krishnappa’s second wife, her brother Puttegowda, Shankar, Kumar and Madhusudhan as prime suspects. Puttegowda, Shivu, Sunil, Kiran, Santosh, Ashok, Marisidda and Pradeepachari attacked Krishnappa around 6.45 am on February at Mallathahalli, ITI Layout, when he was returning after playing badminton.
They took him in a car and shifted the body to a goods vehicle at Kommagatta, and later dumped it in a drain near Channapatna. They fled the spot after abandoning the vehicle.
