JOIN USInvitation Cup put off to March 8
Heavy rain played spoilsport on the final day of Indian racing’s biggest weekend, forcing the postponement of the final four races, including the blue riband event -- the Indian Turf Invitation Cup.
Only four races could be held as heavy rain lashed the Malakpet race course, making it unfit for racing. Left with no choice, the authorities decided to conduct the remaining four races along with additional ones on March 8.
Following this unexpected development, the March 8 races scheduled in Bangalore has been postponed to the following week.
“We had three racing days this month -- March 7, 8 and 15,” said BTC chairman Harimohan Naidu. “What we’ve decided is to to have races only on March 7 and postpone the March 8 races to the week after. This means we will have races on March 14 and 15.”
