CM was addressing a party workers meeting

A portion of the stage, from where Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was addressing a party workers meeting, in Periyapatna, Mysore district, on Thursday, collapsed. However, nobody was hurt.

Police personnel asked a few Congress workers, who were standing behind the CM, to get down from the stage and moved away the microphone a little, as a safety measure.

Straight fight

Siddaramaiah said, it was a straight fight between the Congress and the BJP in the State in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election and the JD(S), his former party, was a non-entity.

“Yeddyurappa got a lot of publicity by releasing just Rs 125 crore for distributing bicycles to students. I have released Rs 4,400 crore as subsidy for providing rice to poor families at Re1 per kg,” he said.

Ministers Dr H C Mahadevappa and H S Mahadev Prasad, MP A H Vishwanath, MLAs K Venkatesh, H P Manjunath and M K Somasekhar, MLC R Dharmasena and others were present.

Pick-pocket

Former president of Zilla Panchayat K Marigowda lost Rs 50,000 during the meeting. Miscreants had cut his pocket and made good with the cash amidst crowd, as there was a rush to enter the venue of the meeting.
