Ranjani Fine Arts is organising a Carnatic concert featuring ‘Vidwan’ Shertallay KN Renganatha Sharma (vocal), HM Smitha (violin) and Anoor Ananthakrishna Sharma (mridangam) on March 8, 5 pm at Sobha Lakeview Club, off Outer Ring Road, Bellandur.

Divine music

A workshop on the legendary Carnatic composer Sri Papanasam Sivan will be held at the World Music Centre, 42, East Park Road, between 17th and 18th Cross, Malleswaram, on March 8 and 9 from 2 pm to 6.30 pm. Ashok Ramani, grandson of Papanasam Sivan, will conduct the workshop.

The participants will get to learn some of the popular kritis and compositions of

As part of the ‘Sabha Series’ of concerts, Nalini Prakash and Vijay Palaparty will present a performance titled Vishaala on March 9, 4 pm at ‘Srujana’, the Abhinava Dance Company Studio, Basavanagudi. Vijay and Nalini are bharatanatyam and kuchipudi dancers based in the USA.

Documentary film
On March 8, 4 pm,
‘Scattered Windows, Connected Doors’, a documentary film, will be screened at Jagriti, Whitefield. This will be followed by a question-and-answer session with Roohi Dixit, the co-director.

All that jazz

Wales Arts International and Gatecrash will present Burum, a Welsh folk/modern jazz band featuring Tomos Williams (trumpet), Ceri Rhys Matthews (bagpipes, wooden flute), Dave Jones (piano), Aidan Thorne (bass), Mark O’Connor (drums) at BFlat, Indiranagar on March 8, 8.30 pm. Led by award-winning trumpeter Tomos Williams,
Burum is a jazz quintet with a difference.

The band’s repertoire is drawn from Welsh traditional music, adapted and re-imagined for a modern jazz quintet.

Burum’s music fuses a deep respect for the original folk melodies themselves with the flexibility and dynamics of jazz improvisation. Tickets are available on

‘Legends of Stage’

‘Legends of Stage’, a two-day theatre gala, will held on March 8 and 9 at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall. ‘Dear Father’ in Hindi will be staged on March 8, 3 pm.

It is directed by Dinkar Jani and the writer is Vivek Bele. The cast includes Paresh Rawal, Mrinmayeee and Chetan Dhanani. Krishan vs Kanhaiya, the Hindi play, will be held on March 8, 7.30 pm.

It is directed by Umesh Shukla and the cast includes Paresh Rawal, Chirag Vora, Jimit Trivedi, Puja Gupta and Ankit Trivedi. On March 9, 7.30 pm, ‘Dear Liar’, the English play, will be staged.

It is directed by Satyadev Dubey and the cast has Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah.
