Looks, attitude and oodles of talent make this actor stand out. In the City to perform his latest play Waiting For Godot — with veterans like Naseeruddin Shah, Benjamin Gilani and Akash Khurana — Randeep Hooda still manages to shine through. With his crisp and honest answers, he captures everyone’s attention.

Spend a few minutes with Randeep, and one can see what makes him the person he is. When he talks about his philosophy towards life, love and death, one gets to see his mature side.  But ask him what does he do to get into the ‘skin’ of a character, he’ll tell you playfully, “I take off my clothes.”

Theatre and films have gone hand-in-hand for Randeep. Having been part of the Mumbai-based theatre troupe Motley, for a while now, he says, “I do theatre for the passion of acting, for artistic freedom. Movies, on the other hand, are for     money.”
Though his filmy career has not been as good, he is still proud of each of his roles. Be it Deshu in the super-serious D Company or the 18 stupendous roles in Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye or Love Khichidi, where one saw him last, Randeep has come a long way and still feels that it was Monsoon Wedding which established him as an actor.”

Having played a lover boy in a majority of films including in his forthcoming movies like Rang Rasiya and Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, he says that it is a character that he enjoys playing.

But the ex-beau of Sushmita Sen describes love as freedom. “It is a wonderful feeling to be in love. It’s that experience, where you feel free with no rules to bind the two of you,” says Randeep, who has clearly not given up on love.

“I’m mesmerised by women. I don’t know whether I’ll find love again but I do know one thing,” he says and adds, “One is born alone and will die alone. In this process, people will come and go in one’s life but I am not the types, who keeps an account on that. For me, it’s all about living in the moment.”
