Addressing media persons on Wednesday, he said the BJP would learn a lesson if it is defeated in all 25 seats. The voters should remember that each vote polled in favour of the BJP is equal to encouraging corruption, he said.

As a symbol of Congress’ faith in the JD(S), the party leader S L Bhojegowda will work for the victory of Congress candidate Gayathri Shanthegowda, he said. The BJP that snatched power from the only woman minister in the Cabinet, has not given opportunity to a single woman in the Council elections, he criticised.

JD(S) State Vice President H T Rajendra said it is important for the secular forces to become strong in the contemporary scenario. The JD(S) has sacrificed the party’s interests in the interest of the nation, he said. JD(S) leader S L Bhojegowda said their only aim was to root out the BJP from the State.

Candidate Gayathri Shanthegowda said she returned the ZP President’s vehicle to the district administration in the backdrop of her contest. “I have more knowledge about the local bodies since I have been the member of the Zilla Panchayat for the past 40 months. I will raise my voice for women,” she said. Congress leader A N Mahesh and JD(S) leader Dr Raju were present.
