Mandi wins silver medal at Kuwait

Ekambir Mandi won the silver in the junior air rifle event of the seventh Asian Air Gun Championships in Kuwait on Tuesday.

Ekambir shot 612.4 in the qualifying round and 205.8 in the final. The Indian team of Ekambir (612.4), Satyam Chauhan (611.5) and Akhil Sheoran (602.8) won the bronze medal. The gold medal went to China and the silver to Iran.

In the youth section, the Indian team, comprising Prashant, Pratik Borse and Gaurav Kumar won the silver medal with a total score of 1851.5. China and South Korea bagged the gold and bronze medals, respectively. Prashant also clinched a quota place for the Youth Olympics.

Anjum Moudgil won the bronze in air rifle junior women’s event. Her scores were 411.9 and 183.7. The team of Anjum Moudgil (411.9), Shriyanka Sadangi (410.2) and Elizabeth Koshy (400.8) won the bronze with a total score of 1236.7.
