India experiences disparities in dental care. Statistics indicate that 95 percent of the population in India suffers from gum disease and only two percent of the population visits dentists. Good oral health helps you avoid embarrassing conditions like bad breath or yellowing teeth.

Here are some easy-to-follow oral care tips:

Visit your dentist regularly Does just the thought of going to the dentist make you nauseous? It won’t hurt so much if dentist visits for a routine check-up are a part of your oral care regime. Regular checkups ensure that your dentist can spot any problems early on and provide appropriate treatment.

Cut sugary and starchy foods
Frequent consumption of sugar and starch can cause decay. Acidic foods and drinks can cause erosion. This can start within 20 minutes of eating or drinking. If you wish to eat these foods, have them as part of a meal when they will do less harm.

Chew sugar-free gum
Chew sugar-free gum for 20 minutes after meals and snacks. It has been proven to help reduce the risk of tooth decay. Although chewing sugar-free gum is an enjoyable way to look after your teeth when you are out, you should still brush your teeth twice every day.

Brush your teeth twice a dayTeeth can decay overnight, while you are asleep. So brush your teeth before going to bed as well as in the morning. Include brushing twice as a part of your every day routine, and your teeth and gums will thank you.
