90's infamous drug supplier held

Drugs supplier Bishan Singh alias Natiya, who was a big name in the drugs trade during the late nineties, has been arrested, police said.

Bishan assumed the name of Anil Kumar Bansal in Gwalior, where he had been living for the past 15 years. Police said he was running a transport company in the name of Shri Nath Transport.

“Bishan along with his two associates was convicted in a case under the NDPS Act registered with Rohini police station in 1998. But Bishan escaped from court,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said.

He was declared a proclaimed offender in July 1999 by Tis Hazari court, and his two associates were convicted for 10 years and a fine of Rs 1 lakh was slapped on them.

He could not be traced for 15 years. Recently, they were informed that Bishan had changed his name and was into transport business in Gwalior. A team was sent and it caught Bishan in  Gwalior on Wednesday.
