Hazare to campaign against two ex- ministers

Last Updated 16 March 2014, 19:30 IST

Slamming political parties for fielding some “corrupt and criminal” candidates, social activist Anna Hazare said on Sunday that he would campaign against two former ministers in Maharashtra who have been given Lok Sabha tickets by the Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

“In some constituency or the other, most political parties have fielded candidates accused of corruption and having criminal background. Before the elections, these parties claimed that they were strongly against corruption. But now we find a difference in what they say and what they practise,” said Hazare in an interview.

Targeting the Shiv Sena and the NCP, Hazare said he would campaign against Sena candidate Baban Gholap from Shirdi and Osmanabad NCP candidate Padamsinh Patil in the Lok Sabha elections.

Following an agitation launched by Hazare when Gholap and Patil were in cabinet, both had been dropped as ministers.
