Steps to ensure voting for staff

Postal ballot, election certificates to be issued for polling officials

 To enable officials and others involved in election duty exercise their franchise, the District Administration is taking steps to create facilities for them.

Following directions from the Election Commission of India, the office of the Deputy Commissioner, also the District Election Office, has appointed nodal officers for every Assembly constituency under the Mysore-Kodagu Lok Sabha constituency.

The polling personnel, who may avail the facility include election officer and staff, polling officers, sector officer, zonal officer, micro observers, flying squad, video surveillance team, video viewing team, static surveillance team, accounting team, assistant poll expenditure observer, police officers and personnel, KSRTC drivers and conductors, cleaners and other personnel roped in for the poll duty.

Police Commissioner of Mysore, Superintendent of Police of the district, KSRP Commandant, divisional controllers, KSRTC urban and rural, have been appointed in Mysore district, while the similar system is in place at Madikeri and Virajpet Assembly segments in Kodagu district.

The personnel, who have enrolled as voters in any of the eight Assembly segments in the constituency, can take part in the electoral exercise on the day of voting at designated places, on the basis of Election Duty Certificate (EDC) to be issued to them. In the case of those staff, who have been deputed on poll duty of their respective parliamentary constituency, such personnel will be issued postal ballots (PB).

The authorities concerned will issue Form 12 (postal ballots) and Form 12 (a) (election duty certificate) for the polling officials and staff along with their duty chart. The duly filled in applications should be given to the respective nodal officers on the first day of their training, the schedule expected to be announced later. Those enrolled for postal ballot will be given an opportunity to exercise their franchise at the facilitation centre to be opened on the second day of training.

A separate facilitation centre will be opened for police personnel, KSRP personnel, home guards and KSRTC personnel for postal ballot and to obtain election duty certificates.
